Moisés Finalé born in 1957. He was born in Cárdenas, Matanzas, Cuba. He graduated from the Higher Institute of Art of Havana (ISA) in 1984. In 1983 he organized two solo shows: Versión, 23 y 12 Art Center in Vedado, Havana, and Lenguaje natural, Amelia Peláez Gallery in Havana. They were followed by Sección de jardinería, Galería Habana, 1984; Mythologies, Josip Broz Tito Gallery of Non-aligned Countries, Montenegro, Yugoslavia, 1985, and Formas escondidas, Provincial Center for the Fine Arts and Design in Old Havana. As a member of the 4 x 4 group he exhibited at Galería L and 23 y 12 Art Center in Vedado, Havana, in 1982. Abroad he exhibited in countries such as Puerto Rico, Brazil, Italy and the Soviet Union, among others.
Works of his are in private collections in the United States, England, France, Spain, Mexico and other countries. His language is born from a conscious and critical assimilation of Bad Painting and popular expressions, particularly those linked to the practice of synchretic cults. With such elements – including archaic ones deriving from age-old cultures like that of Egypt – Moises Finale attains an aggressive expression. Established in Paris, this artist works and exhibits there; at the same time he frequently travels to Cuba and participates of the important art movement of his country.
